Our Mission
CPNJ is a limited liability company that promotes racing on all human-powered watercraft on the beautiful waters of New Jersey.
What We’ve Achieved
In 2020, founder and owner of Competitive Paddlesports of New Jersey Melinda Edward re-established the 46-year old tradition of the Toms River Race after it was discontinued in 2019.
The 47th Annual Toms River Race provided a safe, COVID-19 compliant event for 50 racers, a record number of participants.
In 2021, the 48th Annual Toms River Race saw a participation increase by 50% with a triple number of sponsors from 2020.
In early 2022, Competitive Paddlesports of New Jersey was founded as the new host of the Toms River Race.
Our Vision
To maintain the success of the Toms River Race.
To raise money for local nonprofits, such as Save Barnegat Bay, which serve to protect the waters in and around NJ.
To bring awareness of, and to support competitive paddlesports racing in New Jersey and in neighboring states.
To build the local paddling community.
